First municipal project with 100 % electric machinery

The remodelling of the Tres Xemeneies gardens in Poble-sec represents a step forward in improving energy efficiency and reducing pollution in urban development works. The project will eliminate architectural barriers and will make the space more dynamic.
November 4, 2024

The goal is to eliminate hidden areas, facilitate circulation, encourage community use of the space and connect the surrounding neighborhoods.

Once the work is completed, the square will have a new basketball court, a sports circuit and, next to the children's play area, a kiosk.

The completion date for the final transformation has not yet been set.

Commitment to electrical machinery

The intervention in the gardens of the Tres Xemeneies will allow for the evaluation of energy consumption, gas emissions, noise and thermal impact resulting from the use of electric machinery, compared to data generated by conventional diesel machinery.

The conclusions of the pilot test carried out in 2022 in a private project in the city are as follows:

  • Energy consumption is reduced to one-seventh.
  • Energy costs are reduced to one sixth.
  • CO2 emissions are reduced by a third.
  • The noise level during activities is reduced by half.
  • The efficiency of electric machinery is comparable to that of conventional machinery.

The goal is to achieve 50 % use of zero-emission machinery in municipal works by 2030.
